Who invented computer?

There is no straightforward answer to the question of "who invented computer" because computer does not represent a single machine but it is a collection of many different types of mechanical parts.

At the same time, these parts have been invented by different people at different times. Therefore, the answer to this question depends on the classification of the computer.

Computer was invented in the 19th century by Charles Babbage Salt, a famous Mathematics professor. Therefore, he is also called Father of Computer.

He designed an Analytical Engine (first mechanical computer) which was the successor of Difference Engine (automatic mechanical calculator) and is considered to be the basic framework of modern computers today.

These were classified into Generations and each generation was a much improved and modified version than its previous generation.

In 1822, the British mathematician and inventor Charles Babbage (1791–1871) created the first steam-powered automatic mechanical calculator, which he named "Difference Engine" or "Differential Engine".

Computer type

It was more than a simple calculator. At the same time it was able to compute the numbers of many sets together and in the end it provided answers in hard copies.

Ada Lovelace also helped Charles Babbage to develop this difference engine. It could compute polynomial equations and was also able to automatically print mathematical tables.

After this, in 1837, Charles Babbage conceived the description of the first general mechanical computer, which was going to be the successor of Difference Engine and which he thought to be the analytical engine, but it could never be completed when Babbage was alive.

It was to be programmed with the help of integrated memory and punch cards.

Later in 1991, Henry Babbage, the youngest son of Charles Babbage, completed a part of the machine that was able to do all the basic calculations.
